1, Introduction

@Three years have been passed since the currency crisis began in Thailand on July, 1997.
@The world economy is showing signs of picking up. There is an increasing tendency towards business expansion in the USA. Business in the USA has recorded the longest period of prosperity since the world war . We can suppose that the tendency for improvement in the productivity of industry in all fields is a result of the IT technical innovation.
@The EURO, a single currency, was born in 11 countries among EU signatory countries in Europe in 1999.
The German Mark and France Franc will vanish as a result of the introduction of this currency. Actual currency will begin to be used in 2002 or so.
The economic block of EU has a population of 290 million, about $ 8,000 billion (1997) in GDP. The USA has a population of 270 million, a GDP of about $ 7,800 billion.
Japan has a population of about 126 million, about $ 4,100 billion in GDP.
Three greatest economic blocks have emerged on the earth.
@On the other hand the world shipping amount of printed matter is about \31.2 trillion in 1996. @\5.41 trillion increased from \25.79 trillion in 1987.
@The USA shipped 31 % of the volume of printed matter in the world, but became 34 % in the Europe whole in 1996.
@Japan shipped 19 % of the volume of world's printed matter, and moreover the increased ratio of the South East Asia is higher than the USA and Europe. (Table 1)
@However, this data shows before the break down of the bubble economy, thus it is not completely up to date. Generally speaking, there is great demand for printed matter in Asia.
@High end prepress and press system industries supply the machine for the printing demand.
Their volume of shipment was about \19 trillion in the world in 1999. (Table 2)
The ratio of the market in Germany was 34 %. The market 19% was in the USA and 7 % in Japan. Germany has maintained the highest ratio.
@In these economic circumstances drupa 2000(print media messe) was held between 18th and 31 st of May,2000 in Dusseldorf in Germany. The German EXPO 2000 was held from 1st of June, 2000 in Hannover.
@The Gutenberg 600 (1400-2000) Exhibition, a cooperated event, will be held in Mainz until December, this year.
@The author took part in these events, released investigation research such as the digital printing technology and discussed the printing culture and heritage. (1)
@The author will report The Development of Modern Japanese Printing Technology in The Symposium of the Future of the World's Printing and Publishing Culture in Chongju, Korea.
(Omitted in Chapter 2,3,4,5&6)

7. Conclusion

@As for the invention of Gutenberg printing type and press, the giving communication will be first World Wide Web which was made abundant in the wisdom to the human society.
@That movable metal type ( the mobile formula metal character, the printing type ) expresses all meanings of this sentences in the combination doesn't change at all with Personal Computer in the information times today.
@The meeting which commemorates of Gutenberg 600 of his birth from January, 2000 in German each place was held ,but a publishing cost was mainly downed for compared with the invented price at first.
At present, it is available at the for free near cost in the Internet. (Fig.8)
@The shipment sum of the print tends to increase steady every year but the shipment sum in the developing country is remarkable especially.
@This will show a book and a newspaper worldwide and the demand of the magazine will show to increase in spite of the distribution on the Internet.
@The author predicted that the amount of shipment of Graphic Arts Industry in Japan for 21st century becomes from \ 9.1 trillion to \ 10 trillion in 2000 year by a approximation analysis. (11)
@There is that the information capital investment of the graphic arts industry is remarkable. It is expected that the development into the new information industry from the graphic arts industry is carried out with the conventional and digital technology. and the advanced utilization develops new business by the large-volume transmission and so on.
@The research of the graphic arts theory must be more promoted for its purpose.
